2006/12/25---Happy Festive Nondenominational Holiday Season!

Happy Festive Nondenominational Holiday Season~!
In the spirit of the season, I urge you all to watch this Yu-Gi-Oh! Christmas Carol. X3
TK's mother: TK, get down from there!
TK: Oh, it's okay mom. By the way, this is my friend Joe from camp.
Joe: Nice to meet you ma'am! TK was in my woodworking class. He almost cut my finger off, but that's a whole different story I won't get into right now.
TK's mother: Please stop! I don't understand!
TK: The saw slipped. But don't worry. It missed him by a mile!

2006/12/24---Silent Night
|
The pic and quote of the week are up. The pic features a calendar image from the 2007 CLAMP calendar. It's trying to match the season without actually matching the season. Heh.
The quote of the week comes from one of the first episodes of Eureka 7.
"You can't just wait around. You can't leave it up to somebody else."
-Renton, Eureka7

2006/12/22---Anime North info, YTV, news catch-up
|
Anime North's website has been updated with information on next year's convention! Some things to note...
Hotel booking is up. If you are planning to stay at the DoubleTree hotel, book now. Any available rooms left will be gone in no time. Also, Anime North registration is open. It should be noted that there has been a slight price increase from last year. To save some money, you might want to pre-register sooner than later. For more info, check out the website.
Also of interest, some of the North American guests of honor have been announced. They include:
Johnny Yong Bosch
Derek Stephen Prince
Patrick Seitz
Michelle Ruff
Wendee Lee
Stephanie Sheh
Sonny Strait
(I've linked their names to their profiles over at ANN, so click their names for more info. ;3)
I totally spazzed when I saw that Johnny Yong Bosch was at the top of the list. I love that man! He played one of my favorite Power Rangers, and he's an amazing voice actor, voicing numerous characters like Vash in Trigun and Kiba in Wolf's Rain, and more recently, Renton from Eureka 7 and Ichigo from Bleach. :D
Stephanie Sheh, the voice of Eureka from Eureka 7 will be there, so at Anime North this year, both Eureka and Renton's voice actors will be in attendance.
Digimon fans might want to note that Derek Stephen Prince (Ken, Demidevimon, Veemon, Piedmon, etc.) and Wendee Lee (TK) will be attending. Digimon aside, both of them have impressive resumes voicing countless roles. (Like Johnny Yong Bosch, they also previous worked on Power Rangers too. /geek)
Also in Canadian anime news, YTV will be airing an anime marathon next Friday night. The schedule is as follows:
6:00pm -- two back-to-back new Yu-Gi-Oh! GX episodes
7:00pm -- two back-to-back Pokémon Advanced Battle episodes
8:00pm -- two back-to-back new Naruto episodes
9:00pm -- debut of InuYasha Movie 3: Sword of an Honorable Ruler
11:00pm -- repeat of the final two InuYasha episodes
Coming up in the new year, YTV will be airing the movie "Pokémon Heroes" on Saturday, January 13 at 4 pm.
And now for a very brief and incomplete news catch-up:
Looking forward to the new DBZ boxset releases? FUNimation has addressed a bunch of questions and concerns about them.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX toys are at McDonalds.
Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are coming to Canadian TV.
4Kids has finally cancelled its adaptation of One Piece. What a shame...
AnimeNation's Ask John column has recently answered some questions that I'd like to share, because I find them interesting, and because some of which are questions I often get asked myself.
Are Fan Created Anime Music Videos Legal?
Can Americans Write Anime?
How Much Impact Has Pokemon Had In America?
What Impact does YouTube Have on Anime?
Why Hasn't Ouran High School Host Club Been Licensed?
Finally, on a random note, if you like Card Captor Sakura and would like the original Japanese version on DVD, AnimeNation has a crazy deal on the DVDs going on, which you can find here. ;3

2006/12/17---Getting Back
|
The new pic and quote of the week are up. The pic features Ban and Ginji from the Get Backers manga. The original image is from a calendar from a few years back. I was inspired to do a Get Backers pic after I started re-reading the manga this week. The manga can be a little crude at times, but it's one of my favorites.
The quote of the week comes from the second volume of the manga.
"Sometimes life's greatest moments only happen in our dreams."
-Ban, Get Backers

2006/12/12---Golden Age
|
The new pic and quote of the week are up. The pic of the week is an image of Haine from the manga Shinshi Doumei Cross. I found the original image over at this lovely website. I got into Shinshi Doumei Cross this weekend, and I have to say that it's a great manga. Viz will be releasing it in the spring, and I'm very much looking forward to it. X3
The quote of the week comes from Fruits Basket. It's one of Tohru's mother's pieces of advice that I rather liked.
"Kindness is something that everyone has to make with their own hands."
-Kyoko, Fruits Basket

2006/12/10---Vic Mignogna Mania!
|
First off, I've gotten around to typing up my interview with the wonderful English voice actor Vic Mignogna! This past summer, I had the pleasure of catching up with him at Anime Evolution. I asked him how playing the voice of Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist affected his career, about his convention experiences, and taught him out to play rock-paper-scissors, which has very humorous results. It's easily one of the funniest interviews I've ever done. Check it out! X3
A few weeks after the interview, Vic was in Toronto for CN Anime. A friend of mine, Lil Alchemist, organized a special birthday dinner for him on Friday night. She has donated her report of the event and photos to LELOLA, and I've added them to the CN Anime section. You can see it here! :D
*waves a little Vic flag*
(For those of you wondering, this leaves two interviews left for me to type up: Alex Carter from AE 2004, and Brad Swaile from MAX 2003. *fails* I think I'm forbidden to do any new ones until I get to those. XD)
"Let's play rock-paper-chainsaw!"

2006/12/08---Car Insurance
|
Sorry for the lack of updates. I was going through my exams. On the plus side, I checked my LELOLA e-mailed today and replied to most of them. The backlog that had built up since August has been cleared. :3
There's a new pic and quote of the week up. The pic is an amusing one of Faye from Cowboy Bebop. It's made out of a subpar quality screencap but it's only going to be up for a few days, so I figured I could get away with it. XD
The quote of the week matches and is from Jet from Cowboy Bebop.
"That's really unique Faye! Is that a mugshot or your version of Picasso?"
-Jet, Cowboy Bebop
On an unrelated note, to those of you who like the Eureka 7 dub, or are amused by the English voice acting scene, Adult Swim's website has a special behind-the-scene look at the dub. Sort of. It features Eureka's voice actress, Stephanie Sheh, getting into character, and Renton's voice actor, Johnny Yong Bosch, demanding his pay check and fighting a ninja (which is so much more amusing if you remember his Power Ranger years). XD Anyway, it's definitely worth checking out!
