MATT VS. JUN

This section is dedicated to the humorous moments between Matt Ishida and Jun Motomiya in the second season of Digimon. Much to Matt's dismay, Jun has a huge crush on him, and when they interact, humor usually ensues.


Part I

In episode 7, Matt goes over to Davis' apartment. He has to make up an excuse why Davis isn't coming home for dinner, due to the fact that he's in the Digital World. Davis's sister, Jun, answers the door.

Matt: So anyway, Davis is over at my brother's house so he probably won't be home until a little later on.
Jun: [giggles]
Matt: What?
Jun: You're lying!
Matt: Huh?
Jun: I can tell when people are lying cause they usually start to blink a lot.
Matt: What... ahuh... but... ahuh...
Jun: I promise not to tell my parents if you're lying, if you promise to go out on a date with me. OK? See you Friday at eight!
[shuts door]
Matt: How did that happen? [sighs]



Part II
Later that night, Matt is at home with his father. Matt is cooking dinner, when his father begins to speak.

Matt's father: Some girl named Jun called today, Matt, and said that you have a date with her on Friday. She wanted me to tell you that she made dinner reservations for you two at O'Malley's.
Matt: O'Malley's? What's that?
Matt's father: The most expensive restaurant in town.
Matt: [gets mad] This is all Davis's fault! I can't believe I have to take his sister out on a date!
[dinner begins to burn]
Matt's father: Hey Matt, something smells great! I'm getting hungry!
Matt: [panics] Dinner's ready!?




Part III

In episode 18, Matt, Tai, and Izzy are about to go on a camping trip with Matt's father. The trip is really a way to excuse the absence of the digidestined in the Digital World. Jun finds out about the camping trip and wants to go. Davis tells her she can't, but Jun wants to go because Matt is going. Anyway, they all get into the van when Jun shows up.

Matt's father: You rugged camping men set to go?
[Tai and Izzy get into the back seat of the van]
Tai: Yep, thanks for taking us.
Izzy: Yeah.
Matt's father: Well, I guess we should get going.
Matt: Right.
[gets into front seat and shuts the door, revealing Jun]
Jun: Hi their Maaattttttt! I'm ready!
All: Huh?
Tai: Isn't that Davis's sister? What's she doing here?
Matt: I have no idea.
Tai: Well, see what you can do to get rid of her, OK?
Matt: Right!
[gets out of the Van and confronts Jun]
Hey Jun! What's going on?
Jun: I thought this camping trip would be a perfect romantic getaway for us!
Matt: Oh... I see.
[walks towards Jun]
[ back in the van, everyone is watching and listening to this]
Izzy: Lucky Matt! Girls must chase him all~ day.
Tai: I know exactly how he feels!
Jun: By the way, where's Davis and the others?
Matt: Oh... those guys. They went ahead of us in another car.
Izzy and Tai: [snicker]
Matt: A friend of my dad's has a very big mini-van.
Jun: Hmmm... where do I sit?
Matt: Aaaa... first I have a... present to give you...
Jun: [blushes] Huh? Me?
Matt: Yeah, but it's in the car and I didn't get a chance to wrap it so, close your eyes and count to ten and I'll be right back with your present. OK?
Jun: [giggles] OK, Matt!
[turns around, covers her eyes with her hands and begins to count]
1...
Matt: [runs to van and gets in]
Jun: 2...
Matt: OK, dad. Step on it!
Izzy and Tai: [still snickering]
Matt's father: You want to... leave her here?
Matt: Yep!
Matt's father: You have a lot to learn about women, Matt!
Jun: [still counting in the background] 7...
Matt: Hmm... where did I hear that before?
[van pulls away]
Jun: 10!
[uncovers her eyes to see the van pass her and speed off]
[still blushing] Huh? Matt! Where's my present!?



Part IV

In episode 21, after missing a bus and getting a ride, Jun has finally makes it to the campsite.

Jun: Hey Matt! I made it!
Tai, Izzy, and Matt: [shocked and panic-stricken]
Matt: [hits himself in the head] Oh no! She followed us! She's like a boomerang that keeps coming back!
Jun: It's funny... but when you drove off with your tires screeching you didn't realize you left me standing there.
Matt: My bad. Sorry out that! I must of forgot!
Jun: Oh! Where are Davis and the others?
Tai: Aahag.. [frozen with panic]
Matt: I think Tai knows. Hey, Tai! Do you know where the others went?
Tai: [scratches his head] Let me think about that for a sec. [panics] Ahh... Izzy... weren't you the last one to see them?
Izzy: [panics] Daaaa... ummm... of course... I'll go find them right now!
[runs off with his laptop]
Jun: Hmmm...
Izzy: Oh great! What am I suppose to do?
[digiport opens]
The digiport is opening!
New Digidestined: [screaming as they come through the portal]
[land on Izzy]
Jun: Did you hear that noise?
Tai: It could be a wild animal.
Matt: Yeah. The woods are a dangerous place. You better leave quick!
Tai: I'll tell Davis you stopped... [sees everyone walking] by...
Tai and Matt: Huh? [confused and embarrassed] [blink] [blink]
Tai: Aaahera...
Matt: There they are!
Davis: Hey, Jun... who invited you out here?
Jun: Matt did!
Tai and Matt: Eeeegh... [sigh]


Later on, when they're all getting ready to go home, Matt meets his defeat.

Jun: Hey guys! Wait for me!
Tai: Aaarghh... that was a close one.
Jun: Hey! Would it be OK if I got a ride home with you guys? I don't wanna take the bus all by myself!
Davis: No way! Not in a million years! Take the bus!
[gets in van]
It's not my fault you came all the way out here!
Jun: It's not fair!
Matt's father: Come on kids. That's not nice.
All: Huh?
Matt's father: Someone take the bus home with Jun.
Jun: That's very nice of you sir and I already have the perfect volunteer in mind!
Matt: [panics] And the absolute perfect volunteer is TK!
Matt's father: Matt! You take the bus home with Jun!
Matt: [panics more] Huh? I'm broke!
Matt's father: There's more than enough here. [hands Matt money]
Tai: Have fun you two!
Izzy: Have her back before curfew!
Matt: [out of desperation, offers money to Tai] I'll trade for your seat!
Jun: [giggles]
[shuts van door in Matt's face]
Don't be silly! You'll sit with me!
Matt: [panics like crazy] Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!!!!!
[van starts]
Jun: Come on, hunk!
[hooks her arm with Matt's']
We better get catch the bus. It will be a long ride!
Matt: Aaaa... aaa... aaa... [begs] Please, TK! you can have my college money!
[van starts to leave]
Matt: huh... huh... huh... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!
All: [laughing]
Jun: Bub-bye!
Kari: See ya in four hours! [laughs]
Matt: Ahuhaaaa...
Jun: [giggles]
Matt: [breaks down and sighs]
I give up!
