During the previous movie, one of the kids helping the digidestined during the online battle is an American boy named Willis. At the same time that the first digimon hatched on Tai's home computer, another egg hatched in America. This other digiegg made Willis the human companion of twin digimon (Terriermon and Kokomon).
Unfortunately, the electronic battle caused one of the twin digimon, Kokomon, to be taken over by a computer virus. Kokomon grew up confused, and he tries to destroy anyone who gets close to Willis.
TK and Kari are visiting New York City when Kokomon appears. TK and Kari discover Willis and Terriermon and follow him across country, while Davis, Yolei and Cody get an e-mail from Kari that tells them to join them. When they finally get to America, Davis, Yolei and Cody run into Willis while stowing away in a truck. Davis and Willis bond quickly.
When the team finally comes together, the battle begins. Willis is unable to get through to Kokomon, and Kokomon is even unwilling to listen to his twin brother, Terriermon. It seems all is lost until Gatomon and Patamon digivolve to their mega forms (Seraphimon and Magnadramon), releasing the golden digieggs. This digieggs allow Veemon and Terriermon digivolve to Magnamon and Rapidmon. They destroy the virus and set Kokomon free.
