STORY

Note: The TV show have almost nothing to do with each other. They are two completely different stories. Please keep that in mind.


Hitomi is a lonely schoolgirl who keeps to herself. She suffers from depression and feels great sadness even to the point of writing her own suicide letter. Her best friend, Yukari, attempts to cheer her up, but fails. Hitomi just wishes that everyone will disappear. She doesn't understand many things, and this leads her to want to end her own life.

One day, a man named Folken comes to Hitomi and offers to grant her wish - to makes everyone disappear. He calls her the Wing Goddess and tells her to come to another world called Gaea. Hitomi is engulfed in water, and when she awakens, she trapped in a strange room. She's inside the legendary dragon's armor. She's inside Escaflowne!

Hitomi finds herself on a strange world, where the earth and moon hang in the sky. Here she meets strange people. Here she finds strange machines. Here she meets the last dragon king - a boy named Van. And here she finds her destiny... She is the Wing Goddess of legend.

Hitomi has been thrown into a world at war. A world filled with great pain and sadness. However, in this sadness, she finds Van. Van also wishes to die and end his own pain. Hitomi realizes that life is worth living and vows to stay by the boy's side. Therefore, neither of them will ever be alone again.
