2007/10/19---HOLY SHINY UPDATE BATMAN!
|
Long time no see! I'm so sorry for the long absence of updates! A whole bunch of stuff has been keeping me away from LELOLA. Needless to say, an update is long overdue.
YTV will be airing the FMA movie tonight at 9:00pm! The schedule for this evening's Bionix block can be found here.
Ontarians: OMNI is going to be airing the NANA movies. The first movie will air tomorrow night at 8pm, and the second next Saturday at the same time. However, you might want to be aware that Zannen, Canada reports that it will only have Chinese subs (Viz holds the rights to the English subbed version).
The Anime North Halloween Dance is coming up next Friday at 7pm at the JCCC in Toronto. Details can be found here. (Extra details can be found here and here.) Check it out! ;3
Death Note will premiere on YTV next Friday at 10:00pm.
Death Note will premiere on Adult Swim tonight at midnight!
Officials in Taiwan are being told to be vigilant of students reading Death Note. You can read the story here.
As of October 6th, the Hunter x Hunter manga is back. It went on hiatus last year when the mangaka went on sick leave.
I missed FanExpo this year, so I have no photos to post. D: However, if you're craving FanExpo photos, my good friend Amanda took a truckload, which you can see here. And you can see her private shoots here. :3 (Her photos of the Reboot group are my personal favorite. It might not be anime, but holy shiny, this gets an honorary mention!)
As for my Japan photos, it's going to take me awhile to get them online. I took 2600+, and I've only edited 65... >____>
Finally, a new pic and quote of the week moment are up. :3 Since Halloween is fast approaching, I thought a Death Note pic would be appropriate, so the pic features Raito from Death Note. I have also made a matching wallpaper, which you can download below.

1024x768
(I was going to make a 1280x1024 version, but the image I was working with wasn't large enough. D:)
The quote of the week also comes from Death Note. It's a classic line.
"L, did you know that Shinigami only eat apples?"
-"Kira", Death Note
And now back to my soul-crushing schoolwork. >____o

2007/08/20---FanExpo and Japan Hiatus
|
The pic of the month week is of Haruhi Suzumiya. I wanted to do something off-the-wall with this image, and somehow decided on a quote by Jenny Holzer's Survival. I think it succeeded in being WTF-inducing. XD The quote of the month week is an amusing one said by Kakashi in an early episode of Naruto.
"If I'm still sane by the time I finish their training, it'll be a miracle."
-Kakashi, Naruto
Amanda and SolarTempest both have their cosplay picnic photos up. You can see Amanda's photos here, and SolarTempest's photos here. :3
Just a reminder that FanExpo (formly CN Anime) is taking place next weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in downtown Toronto. Details can be found at the official site!
I will not be attending FanExpo this year because I will be in Japan for two weeks. I'm sad that I won't be able to hang out at the con and photograph cosplayers, but I can't really complain about going to Japan. Instead of photos featuring the sights and sounds of FanExpo, hopefully I'll return with lots of photos featuring the sights and sounds of Tokyo and Osaka. ;3 I hope everyone going to FanExpo has a great time. :3

2007/08/17---YTV's Friday night line-up + ReBoot Reborn
|
Tonight YTV will be airing a Naruto marathon from 7:00pm-9:30pm. Following the Naruto-mania, YTV will air the fourth Inuyasha movie, Fire on the Mystic Island, at 9:30pm, and Princess Mononoke at midnight. ;3
ReBoot Reborn: I know it isn't anime news, but I know many fans of this site are also fans of the old CGI series ReBoot. For those of you out of the loop, ReBoot is being relaunched by Rainmaker Entertainment. They've come up with five concepts for a new series, which they posted on their website. Fans are encouraged to view the concepts and vote for the one they'd like to see produced. You can find the ReBoot Reborn website here and the concepts here. :3

2007/08/03---Last minute Cosplay Picnic info + upcoming events
|
It's official: The Toronto Cosplay Picnic will be taking place tomorrow! :D
It's not going to rain, but it's going to be very very hot. It is cooler by the lake, but regardless, expect oppressively high temperatures that will be made worse by the humidity. D: Therefore, it is very important that those of you attending bring sunscreen, lots of bottled water, and breathable clothing/costumes. The last thing we need is someone passing out from heat stroke. :/
Amanda and I (ie: the organizers) should be by the ferry docks around 10:30am to meet people. Amanda will be dressed like Inara but in a slightly more casual outfit. I'll be cosplaying Jubei from volume 30 of Get Backers (ie: I'll be wearing grey). We both lack indoor voices so you should be able to locate us. If you come later (after noon), go to the island and walk towards Centerville. Trust me, the 50+ cosplayers won't be heard to find. ;3
Also, I've been told to inform you that there will be a lot of photographers there. Besides the regular cosplay photographers, there will be a handful of Toronto-area photographers who have no idea what cosplay is but are willing to learn if it means pretty pictures. If you want to have your photograph taken and no one approaches you, all you have to do is ask someone holding a giant camera! There will be lots of people happy to take your photo! :D
Anyway, details can still be found here.
I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow! :3

In other news, the date for next year's Anime North has been announced. It'll take place May 23-25, 2008. :3

you hunting for the R2-D2 Pez dispensor or Cutey Honey action figure
you need to fill out your collection? Do you have convention program

the Merril Collection present a science fiction/anime flea market,

The flea market will be held on Saturday, September 8th, from 10:00 AM
to 4:00 PM in the Beeton Auditorium at the Toronto Reference Library,
789 Yonge Street.

Finally, just a reminder that Otakuthon is taking place this weekend in Montréal.

2007/07/31---Digimon Data Squad English dub
|
Digimon Data Squad will be airing on Jetix this fall. The Digimon Encyclopedia has a message from Jeff Nimoy, saying that he'll be directing the season. He also provided a list of names for the upcoming English voice cast. Let's just say there are a lot of old voices returning. ;3 Check it out!
Along with the anime, the Digimon World Data Squad PS2 game is on its way. You can find info about it here, screenshots here and the trailer here.
In other news, ANN reports that the official website for the Death Note L spinoff movie is up and running. The film is set to be released in Japanese theatres on February 9, 2008. The official website, which has a trailer up, can be found here.
In website news, the received Splash Image Contest entries are in the process of being judged, so I should have the results back soon. ;3
Finally, just a reminder that this Saturday is the Toronto Cosplay Picnic. As it stands now, we're expecting good weather. If that should change and you're wondering about the raindate, check back here on Saturday morning. If the raindate will be used, we'll let you know. ;3
Principal: I've made a blacklist consisting of our troublemakers for you.
Yankumi: Troublemakers, you say? But... you've listed twenty one of the twenty-five students.

2007/07/21---SPOILER: L IS A WIZARD
|
Zannen, Canada has reported that Death Note will be airing on YTV during Bionix this fall. It is set to premiere on Friday, September 7th at 10pm. Also, Naruto will be airing in the Zone. Awesome!
Speaking of Death Note, a few months ago, the Chinese government banned the series. I love you, CRTC.
Also in the news, Code Geass has been licensed by Bandai for North America.
FanExpo is happening August 24-26, 2007.
Unrelated to FanExpo, on the same Saturday of FanExpo, there's a Maid and Butler cafe being organized in Toronto to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It sounds like fun, it's only about a half-hour TTC ride from the convention center, and it's for charity! Check it out! ;3
The pic and quote of the month week are up. The pic is of Tohru (and Yuki and Kyo) from Fruits Basket. It's pretty self-explanatory. And I made a matching wallpaper for kicks. X3

800x600 | 1024x768
The quote of the month week comes from the second volume of the Shinshi Doumei Cross manga.
"How would you know if you're good enough or not if you don't even try?"
-Haine, Shinshi Doumei Cross
Just a reminder: the Splash Image Contest ends on Tuesday. I've gotten very few entries so far (not surprising considering how much I've been updating >____>), so... more chances to win! XD
