Aya has a cold and emotionless exterior. He rarely smiles and gets annoyed very easily. Strangely enough, he takes his work at the flower shop more seriously than any other of the Weiss members and can usually be seen yelling at one of them to work harder watering flowers.

Aya’s weapon of choice is a katana—a Japanese style sword. Aya takes his sword with him everywhere he goes and his skill is exceptional. He kills whoever he feels deserves it.

Like the other Weiss members, Aya fights for a cause. Everything Aya does is for the well being of his little sister.

Before he joined Weiss, Aya was a very different person. He was always smiling and he lived with his parents and his little sister. In fact, Aya’s real name isn’t Aya; it’s Ran. Aya is the name of his little sister.

Two years ago, on his sister’s, Aya-chan’s, sixteenth birthday, Ran took her out at a festival. There he bought his sister a pair of earrings. After a day of fun, they arrived home to find that something wasn’t right. Aya-chan screamed just as Ran saw the bodies of his parents lying on the floor covered with blood. His parents were murdered.

Ran was shocked, but noticed that the gas in the house was on. He grabbed his sister and they ran out of the house just as it exploded. Ran was trapped in the debris, but Aya was not. Sill in shock from the sight of her parents, she stood still like a zombie.

Suddenly, a car came out of nowhere and struck Aya. Before Ran’s eyes, she fell to the ground. Ran caught a glimpse of the car that hit her and saw the face of Reiji Takatori inside one of the windows. Then he blanked out.

When Ran awoke some time later, he was informed that his sister was in a coma. After losing his parents, Aya-chan was everything to Ran, and he was determined to get revenge on the person who did this—Reiji Takatori.

Ran found the earrings he bought for his sister. He put one of the earrings in her hand, and put the other into his left ear. It was then that Ran swore to avenge his sister. So that he’d never forget his sorrow over her, Ran took her name and that’s how he became known as Aya.

Everything Aya does is related to his sister. It’s for her sake that he fights, and it’s for her that he joined Weiss.
