This one was fun, but time consuming. I had fun doing it. ^^ What can I say? Harry Potter melted my brain.

Where to begin? Well, why don't I start on the scarf. It's made out of scarlet and gold polar fleece I cut into sections and then sewed together. Thankfully, I figured out how to get polar fleece to work in a sewing machine.
The tassels for the scarf are made out of wool. It was cheaper to make another scarf than it was to buy real tassels. The scarf only took me three and a half hours to make. And I did it while I was on the phone to boot. *heh* It came out so well that I wear it with my normal winter clothing, and I've even gotten offers to make them for other people. *winks*
I went to a local thrift shop and bought the black pleaded skirt for $4. It was a great deal and a lot easier than making it by hand. The grey sweater vest was also bought at the local thrift shop for $4. I know the top from the movie has long sleeves, but mine didn't. Meh. Close enough.
I altered the grey sweater and made the collar lower and wider (the original collar was blue and white, if you're wondering). I hand-sewed scarlet and gold polar fleece along the collar to get the Gryffindor look. It was a lot harder than it sounds. *heh*
The tie is not accurate either. I could find a Gryffindor tie, so I made one. The one I made turned out really bad, so I dug through the closet and found a scarlet one. It worked really well, so I'm not complaining. ^^
I used a normal white shirt for the white shirt, and I got the shoes at the thrift store for $3. Yay, thrift stores! *cheers*
The black robe was the hardest part and took forever to make. I made the patterns myself, which in retrospect, wasn't the smartest idea. It came out OK, although it doesn’t have a hood. I made a hood, but Ii think it's cursed. Every time I try to sew it on, it falls off. Thankfully, my hair covers it anyway.
The clamps that hold the cloak together were bought at a fabric store. My friend, Blue Rose, made a Ravenclaw uniform the same time I made mine. She found them and they pretty much completed our costumes. Who cares if they're not in the movie? They're still pretty!
The crests come from a pillow case I bought and cut into pieces. *heh* What? It worked!
The knee-high grey socks came from Walmart. You can find almost anything there. *heh*
Overall, I like this costume, but I'll probably re-do it eventually. It was a lot of fun to make, and I'm getting great mileage out of it. Blue Rose and I not only wore our outfits to the Chamber of Secrets premiere, but we've also worn it to the theater every time we've seen the movie (which is a lot, if you're wondering). We also wore it to school, numerous random events, went shopping dressed in them, visited Santa, and I've also worn them in university. And guess what I wore when I got my grad pictures taken?
