_________Information

This is one of those costumes that was so bad that it was good.

One evening, Chapel was complaining that he didn't have a costume for Anime North 2003. One thing lead to another, and before you knew it, we came up with the idea of Killtron.

So on the following Friday, Chapel came over, and using only materials found in the garage, we built Killtron. There were two Dell computer boxes lying around, so we taped them together and added the appropriate holes.

Please note that we taped the boxes together as blatantly badly as possible. We were going for humorous, not quality. Although, I made sure that everything was secure on the inside of the box. Also, we kept in mind that we'd have to take him to the convention, so Killtron was foldable.

After the main part was done, we added the "Killtron 2000" lettering. We made it as cheesy as possible. I drew it on with pencil, then with marker. I didn't bother to erase the pencil before I painted the letters in and I made sure that I colored in outside the lines. Chapel helped here since his art skills are worse than mine. ^^;

Then we added random catch phrases everywhere. Under the "Killtron 2000" is says, "AKA Bort (the other sailor scout!)". On the back, there were arrows pointing in random directions signifying which way was "up" and where to "insert a brian here" (no, not brain, Brain). Lots of it was inside jokes, but it was still rather amusing. ^^

I went off and fetched some Christmas lights. They were special because when you plug them in, they play music and the multicolored lights flash in time with the music. They're horribly tacky. So, we wrapped them around Killtron and taped them horribly.

We still thought there was something missing, and so we added a few final details. First, for a hat, we used a metal kitchen colander and added a chinstrap for extra tacky value. *heh* On the colander was a little koala bear plushie hang-thingy and a sign reading "baby's first cosplay".

Just to make it dorkier, I gave Killtron a ladle as a weapon and a garbage can lid to act as a shield.

Last, but not least, I plugged Killtron into the wall and watched him flash to "Jingle Bells".

Best. Costume. Ever.

_________Misc

Killtron was a hit at Anime North. He got a round of applause when he was plugged into the wall. ^^;

At Anime North, Kira and a group of other people stole a box belonging to two of our friends. After holding the box for ransom, the box was cut up and turned into a spoiler for Killtron. W00t!

Moreover, many people signed the almighty Killtron and added there own sayings to his mighty cardboard exterior.

Everyone loved Killtron at the JPOP dance, but around 2am, Killtron got tired, plugged himself into a nearby wall, took the colander off his head, and got some rest. When he awoke half an hour later, there was close to $10 in his colander from random people that passed by. ^^;

Sadly, on the Sunday of Anime North, Killtron was smashed into many many pieces because Chapel felt like it ...and because we were too lazy to take it home. ^^;
