Sakura wanted to finish her Kari costume, which was originally going to go with my Tai costume for Anime North. When she said she wanted to make Kari for the cosplay picnic, I jumped on the chance to do TK, since we're both fans of TK and Kari's relationship.

This costume can't be accurate, since it's impossible for me to get the proportions right on my body. TK's head is huge and all his limbs are not. I improvised quite a bit with scale.
I made the shirt out of the pattern I made for my Naruto jacket. I just altered the seams and collar, and added the pocket. The sleeves are just regular sleeves, but I hand-sewed them on to hide the stitching in order to give the illusion that I'm actually wearing a shirt underneath. The shorts are made out of a general pants pattern I stole from Becky and keep using for everything.
The hat was a nightmare. It took me awhile to figure out how to approach it, and even now I'm not sure if I like the way it came out. I had a hat lying around, and used it as a base and for inspiration. Patterning it wasn't easy, since much like the lines of longitude on a globe, the pieces of the hat are arced like that. They aren't triangles, but curved "slices". Once I got past that, it got easier. After I made a cover for the existing hat, I made it a new brim and covered that with fabric as well.
It took me awhile to realize that flaps on the side of his hat are like those hats with flaps that fold down to cover one's ears. They were the hardest part of the hat, since like the rest of the hat, there were no straight lines and instead funky curves. I also inlaid the lighter green instead of putting it on top, which was a pain. But over all, I'm really happy with the "flaps".
I made the jewel on the hat out of model magic and painted it with blue paint and nail polish before gluing it on.
The shoes were tricky, since I tried a new method to make shoe covers. I used strips of cardboard and tape to make a hard show cover, and added velcro at the back so I could take them on and off. Then I added elastics at the bottom to keep the shoes in place. After that, I covered them with polar fleece for volume, and hand-sewed white fabric and the green detailing overtop. Although I like the result, this method was very time-consuming.
The wig... ugh. I hate the first wig I used at the cosplay picnic. It's a really cheap one that's styled really badly. Hair kept falling out when I tried to trim it. It's the worst one I own. *stabbity* At CN Anime, I borrowed Hikari Light's wig, which looked infinitely better.
To complete my costume, Hikari Light let me borrow the Patamon plushie she made. Thank you, Hikari Light!

Sakura and I wore our Kari and TK costumes to the cosplay picnic and spent the afternoon being cute. Sakura makes such a perfect Kari! Hikari Light joined us as season two TK, so we had a mini Digimon group.
