Costume Information

I'd been wanting to make a Dragon Ball Z costume for a very long time and Videl has always been one of my favorite characters. I cosplayed this version of her because I'm particularly fond the high school arc.

Most of this costume was fairly simple in terms of construction. The shirt is made out of some sort of cotton spandex. I double-layered the fabric so it wouldn't be transparent (as white fabrics tend to be). I made the Orange Star High School badge out of white fabric, orange felt, craft foam, cardboard, glue and heat-and-bond. I love how it came out.

The shorts were made by shortening a pair of black tights. The purple socks are simple pieces of purple spandex sewed into a tube-like shape. The gloves I borrowed from Becky.

The wig is a black wig with a side part I pulled into pigtails. I made Videl's yellow hair ties out of felt and sewed them to the wig so they don't shift while I'm wearing it.

After patterning the boots on paper and making a mock version out of cardboard, I made them out of an old pair of black shoes, craft foam, green spandex and hot glue.

Overall, I'm very happy with this costume. It's simple, it's super comfy, and because it's pretty much shorts and a t-shirt, it's great to wear to summer events.
